Work Schedule: Full-time contract 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Full Time
Salary: €38,769 - €57,011 Depending on Experience
Reporting to: Youth Service Manager
The Role:
Identifying and addressing the needs of young people ages 8 to 11 who are at risk of engaging in criminal activity or antisocial behavior in the future.
Engaging, building and maintaining strong, positive relationships with the target group on both a one to one and group basis
Attending YDP referral assessment committee and advisory committee meetings
Working collaboratively as part of the YDP team and the wider Crosscare team.
Networking, co-operating, and enlisting the support of other agencies/organization's and community groups to enhance the development opportunities for project participants.
Building and maintaining relationships with local stakeholders, An Garda Síochána and other services engaged with young people in the catchment area.
Creating, implementing, and assessing age-appropriate interventions and outcomes-focused case plans that reach and divert identified 8–11-year-olds before they reach the age at which they could be referred to the diversion programme
General Responsibilities
Identify, engage and work directly with project participants on issues related to their offending, substance use and/or antisocial behavior through engaging them in a youth work process.
Process referrals to the project through the Referral Committee.
Work in partnership with Gardaí and local agencies that participants may be linked with in developing appropriate responses to their needs.
Keep project records and provide updates and reports as requested including the drafting of the Annual Plan following a consultative process with the Gardaí.
Attend the Project Committee meetings, providing progress updates as required.
Provide youth work interventions in the catchment area in line with the Youth Diversion Project plan as approved by the Project Committee.
Work with participants on improving their participation in sustainable employment by identifying pathways towards employment including second chance education and training and work on combating discrimination in accessing and progressing in the labour market, promoting acceptance of diversity in the workplace.
Take part in approved training for developing the Youth Diversion Project and carry out any other duties deemed necessary by Crosscare, IYJS, Gardaí or project committee for the development of the project and fulfilment of the annual plan.
Essential Requirements:
Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and on a one-to-one basis
Applicants must have a 3rd level qualification in Youth Work (or other relevant discipline) to Degree level
A minimum of 2-year experience within this sector and working with challenging young people
Full clean driving license and own transport is an advantage
